What Is the Young Artists Music Workshop?
This program offers free 45-minute music lessons for K-12 students of Champaign County once a month at the Champaign County Arts Council. Lessons cover piano, voice, basic music theory and composition, and rhythm/movement for performers.
Who Would Benefit From These Lessons?
Families who cannot commit to a weekly lesson; students who aren't sure if they would enjoy a private lesson structure; students who are preparing for competitions or auditions; students who need a bit of extra coaching (e.g. school musical or play, holiday program, etc.)
Who Teaches the Lessons?
Our instructor is a degreed professional musician and CCAC Board Trustee with training, teaching, and performance experience. Eventually, we may feature other local teachers and musicians.
How Do I Sign Up?
A Google Forms link will be released two weeks before each lesson day and registration will close one week before each lesson day to allow preparation of materials and lesson plans. Lessons are first-come, first-served and a waitlist is available if spots fill. The instructor will reach out to the parent/guardian to confirm the lesson and gather more info about the student's experience and needs.
Why Only Five Lessons per Month & Limited Subject Availability?
This is a pilot program designed to keep costs manageable while testing demand and ensuring high-quality instruction. If participation stays strong, CCAC may add more lesson days or group workshops.
What Is the Cancellation Policy?
Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so another student may take the spot.
